Overview

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Packaging Engineer participates on teams to lead the assessment and prioritization of packaging functional and aesthetic requirements from concept to implementation.  Develop creative and functional packaging prototypes.  Insure functionality of packaging concepts through testing and analysis.  Contribute in cost saving and continuous improvements efforts in packaging for supported product lines.  Support and implement innovations in packaging for supported product lines. 

Responsibilities

·        Cultivation of culture and values by promoting communication, teamwork and the respectful treatment of all individuals

·        Develops and maintains product specifications

·        Develops and maintains packaging test procedures

·        Provides technical support on any packaging related issues on supported product lines

·        Supports GIMS process

·        Supports the development and maintenance of critical packaging documents such as packaging specifications, test/trial reports, and project lists

·        Maintains an open communication style with internal and external customers

·        Maintains industry contacts and connections

JOB REQUIREMENTS

·        Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering preferred or 2-3 years of related work experience.

·        Excellent analytical, technical, and organizational skills required 

·        Good interpersonal skills required.  Ability to build strong relationships with customers

·        Working knowledge of most packaging materials

·        Experience with automated and semi-automated packaging equipment a plus

·        Sourcing or costing experience a plus

·        Must be able to spend time in a manufacturing environment

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

·        Ability to work in front of a laptop or PC workstation for extended periods of time

·        Occasional standing, sitting, walking, and talking on the phone

·        Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is a combination of a climate-controlled office setting and manufacturing environment. • Appropriate PPE is required in manufacturing and/or logistics areas • Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required
