Overview

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for making sure the human resource policy, procedure, people strategy and agenda closely supports the needs, goals and objectives of the organization.  Works directly with senior leadership for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units, focusing on talent development, talent acquisition and employee relations.  Educate, support and follow up with leadership team regarding execution of human resources policies, processes and initiatives.  Act as an employee champion and change agent and assesses and anticipates HR related needs.  Client group includes Manufacturing and Distribution in Avon, OH and Catawba, NC.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. With guidance, conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
  • Provide day-to-day performance guidance to management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Partner with managers and internal and external recruiters to obtain top talent
  • Partner with management and the Talent team regarding associate and management development needs, identifying and facilitating activities to improve skills, encourage career development and build bench strength
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Support business unit on restructures, workforce planning and succession planning
  • Collaborate with the HR group to develop and maintain solutions, programs, and policies
  • Ensures policies and procedures comply with federal, state and local regulations and are consistently administered throughout the organization to reduce legal risks and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Analyze data trends and metrics and provide summary of findings and recommendations to help make informed business decisions and offer support in administrative functions
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the client groups and industry trends through regular communication and attending operational meetings
  • Effectively balance business partner responsibility with employee advocacy to build positive employee relations culture and work environment
  • Provide operational support to leadership as needed with human resources-related functions such as execution of employee status, job and compensation changes
  • Conducts exit interviews
  • Provides insight and guidance to HR partners and peers
  • Manage several client groups in multiple locations
  • Possible opportunities to manage a team

 JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or HR-related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years’ experience in the field of HR, with a solid knowledge of all HR functions
  • Demonstrated success in a strategic role as an internal consultant, understanding the broad picture and creating positive outcomes
  • Supervisor experience preferred
  • HR Certification Preferred (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, Employee Relations Law)
  • Able to build credibility with all levels of management quickly through demonstrated expertise, self-confidence, influencing skills, and insight
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment preferred
  • Provide solid decisions in a timely manner, based upon mixture of analysis, experience and judgment
  • Excellent communication (verbal and listening), presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact with all employees in a positive and professional manner
  • Proficient skills in HRIS and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to exhibit strict confidentiality and work well under pressure when dealing with multiple responsibilities by portraying excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Solid understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Occasional travel may be required

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to work in front of a laptop or PC workstation for extended periods of time
  • Occasional standing, sitting, walking, and talking on the phone

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a fast-paced work environment with consistent pressure to complete duties as outlined above which requires ability to manage multiple projects at a detailed level and provide support to many internal departments in a fast-changing environment.  Many duties listed above are time-sensitive and have strict deadlines for completion. 

  • Appropriate PPE is required in manufacturing and/or logistics areas.
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be required.
